I am currently doing my PhD in Arkansas State University. Our program is very well designed and the faculty is also good. We also have very good lab and library facilities. Being a PhD student I can avail of full fee waiver and some funding, and thats a really good thing!
I needed GRE and TOEFL for getting admission into this university. I prepared on my own for these tests with help of my elder brother who is doing in USA. I didnt use help of any educational counselors. I needed F1-VISA and interview experience was good with only 3 questions on my PhD program and they were easy. It was easy to get tickets to our destination. I came here by Jet Airways, which had some student concession. Our institution was around 20 miles from my airport. The airways allowed excess baggage. My friend received me at airport.
As I am a PhD student there is full fee waiver and some funding. For MS funding is not as good as for PhD. And as this is a state university the cost per credit is also less and affordable.
Our program is very well designed and the faculty is also good. Our lecture halls are good and also the library.
I stay off campus sharing room with few of my friends. Getting part time jobs for international students is also easy but first come first serve policy holds good. There is international student club which conducts some cultural events during the school.
Our university has a separate department for placement and it takes care of campus placements and alumni take an active part by arranging some meetings regularly. And getting permission for work permit is also easy with the help of financial aid department and international admission department.
