My family is in the business of Manufacturing LEDs , 7 segment displays and lamps. So I grew up in that atmosphere. I wanted to spealise in VLSI design, and Portland offered very good courses on that subject, and also out of 20 Profs at Portland, 10 of them specialised in that field. This made me opt for the university, I learnt a lot from the course.
At the time of applying for the visa my GRE score was 1190, TOEFL was 263 and my Acads, 74% . Bcoz we had a family business in India the VO was sure that I would get back to India after my Masters-in fact, he himself asked me if I would do that!!! Make sure that you stress on that fact, if the VOs get a doubt they may reject ur visa.
My father funded my studies.
The dept has high quality research, teaching and outreach programs. Very beneficial for students.
