The visa interview was easy, but they require a lot of unnecessary paper work. I had to give my TOFEL exam for which I studied at home, it was pretty easy. It is just a very easy English test. Coaching classes were not required because it was basic Mathematics and English. I did not have to bother with educational counselors as I had family in the US that helped me get all the paper work and do all the admission process. It was very easy to get the airline tickets, I got it from my travel agent- SNTTA. I flew Delta Airlines, it was a very good flight, I dont think I had any issues with their service. The airline did not offer a student fare, I landed at John F. Kennedy Airport which was about 3 hours away but as my family was there I did not have much of a problem. We were allowed 23kgs for each bag and excess baggage had to be paid for. No immigration issues. The college did offer "Meet and Greet" facility for the students who were going to use the housing facilities, but not for those who werent.
There are over 2000 scholarships and internship opportunities.
I am pretty happy with their program structure, as I can pick which class I want to take, when I want to take and with who I want to take. My professors are good but there are also helping centers, they are for Mathematics, English and also the professors are very helpful. The lecture halls are very big and accommodate almost 100 students with all modern amenities. The library is very good, we have computers and books that help us in doing our work in a much better way. We a gym, and we can use their services for free. But except that we need to be recommended to participate in sport activities.
I live with my relatives, but my friends who stay at the university accommodation tell me it is pretty good. It is quite easy for international students to get part time jobs, by just dropping in your CV and contact to the placement centres and other places where the vacancy board is put up. The social scene is very very good. Night life is good, we have beautiful scenery to go for picnic at a drivable distance. Night life is rocking, many bars, clubs and pubs around to hang around. We dont have an Indian student society in the university.
The university has internship opportunities, that help as in your last year they offer you a full time job. It is pretty easy to get jobs, infact in a weeks time I was already working. There is a campus placement which functions through the placement cell. It is pretty easy to get the work permit if your advisor is helpful. We do have an alumni network which is fairly active. If you have the same area of interest as someone might be looking for, the alumni helps with the placements.
