Carthage is a private college of the liberal arts and sciences, affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The college was founded by Lutheran pioneers in education in 1847. Around 2,000 full-time and 600 part-time students are enrolled at the college.Carthage awards the Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in more than 30 subject areas, and the Master of Education degree. Carthage also hosts the joint Executive MBA and Master of Social Work degree awarded by Loyola University Chicago.
